Due to it's success in the outdoor pig industry, the Mega Swing Feeder has undergone numerous trials in the calf rearing sector with results proving very positive.

For calves, an optional training ring is attached to the bottom of the pendulum to make the activation of the unit more accidental rather than intentional. This suits the feeding habits of calves which differ from those of pigs. With an approximate 600kg hopper capacity, feedback has been very good in regards to time savings made in frequency of filling.

A common method of filling the feeder is using bulk bags. The feed level is easily seen from a distance due to the feeders translucent hopper. Feed is dispensed only when the calves are present to activate the pendulum ensuring minimal wastage from adverse weather conditions and scavengers.

Ad-lib feeding means there is no specific feed time, so more timid animals can access the feeder during less active times. Regulating the feed dispensed is achieved simply by moving the adjustment lever to the desired position. There are 14 flow settings from almost free-running to complete shut-off.
